Escape from the bustling Singapore: two oasis of relax and tranquility
When we think of Singapore, we all have in mind the sky scrapers, the magnificent Marina Bay views or the crowded Chinese and Indian charming quartiers. But what if we want some days off in a quiet place, with beaches and ocean views but still close to the bustling Singapore downtown? I recently experienced two oasis of tranquility and here are some short details.
W Sentosa Cove
Sentosa is considered part of Singapore, but it’s an island where you can get in minutes. By a bridge road Broadwalk, by a cable car, and enjoy a nice scenery, or by a fast monorail, Sentosa Express, a small electric tram from Vivo City.
I stayed on Sentosa Island at the W Sentosa Cove hotel, a 5-star luxury hotel under Marriott International, which is an oasis of modern luxury for business travelers and sophisticated globetrotters. Here you can escape from the everyday routine and take a whirl into this marina paradise or hide out from the hustle and recharge at the AWAY® Spa.
The resort’s 240 guest rooms and suites have the traditional W style vivid interiors and a neverending list of amenities that redefine contemporary sophistication. I really enjoyed the AWAY® Spa, illuminated with a decompression area, sauna, steam room, whirlpool, vitality pool and experiential showers. But also the WET® Pool — one of Singapore’s largest outdoor resort pools, surrounded by beautiful marina landscaping and private relax cabanas.
And don’t miss the breakfast here, it’s amazing. With lots of exotic fruits and even champagne, to start de day in style 🙂 A really perfect place where to have some time for you…
Marriott Batam Harbour Bay
Another fine hotel I experienced is the Marriott Batam Harbour Bay. Batam is an Indonesian Island very close to Singapore, where you can get by a fast ferry in less then 45 minutes. And the ferry port is right at the ground level of Marriott Batam Harbour Bay. The hotel is of course a 5-star luxury one, with superb service and premium high-tech amenities.
Set along picturesque Harbour Bay, the hotel is conveniently located near some of the island’s top attractions, and the direct access to the ferry terminal from the lobby makes it so easy to reach. The rooms are spacious, well-appointed with panoramic scenic views of the bay, plush bedding, 24-hour room service and free Wi-Fi.
If you really want to pamper yourself, I suggest you to upgrade to the M Club level and enjoy exclusive privileges at M Club lounge. You can have here snaks, all kind of fine drinks, esquisite dinner food and stunning views of the bay. But the most exceptional thing here is the service and the friendly and helpful staff of the M lounge… I really felt wonderful here.
If you want to relax, I suggest the wonderful infinity pool, with amazing views, a whirlpool and a bar.
And of course, at the end of the day you can have dinner in one of the several esquisite speciality restaurants of the hotel. Definitely, the place to stay in Batam is here.
